Here is quick list of steps needed to run your Minolta scanner on Windows Vista or Windows 7, including 64 bit versions:1. Install original Minolta software and drivers. Do this without connecting your scanner.2. Connect your scanner and turn it on with doors closed. It will install using original drivers. Reboot if necessary.3.

Download updated.inf file for Minolta scanners. You can get it or google it out. Uncompress zip file or put downloaded.inf file somewhere on your disk.4. Go to 'Control panel' and launch 'Device Manager'.
Find your Minolta scanner, right click on it and choose 'Update Driver Software'.5. When prompted for driver choose downloaded.inf file. When installation will be finished reboot if necessary.6.
Your scanner should work nowI've used this procedure to get my Scan Dual III running under Windows 7 64 bit. It works fine if I'll launch Minolta software or SilverFast as standalone application. However it fails when called as twain from within graphic software - it says 'close your scanner doors' despite they're closed. I don't know if this is specific to Scan Dual III or not, but I'd use standalone mode anyway so I don't care.Enjoy your scans!Sandyw.
Hawk wrote:To be honest, I just found few versions of.inf file on the net and this one seemed most recent. It worked fine for me so I thought I'll share it with you. Thanks for sharing this info and file! The MINOLTA.INF file in your archive is dated 2011-06-22 and seems to be a derivation of Vitor Fonseca's MINOLTA.INF file as of 2010-10-12, which is still available here:Do you still know, where you found your version of the file? It might be useful to track this down in order to avoid many different versions of the file floating around with only partial support. Perhaps we should add a comment to the file indicating the origin and where users can search for future updates? Also, I find it a bit odd, that the new file suggests a connection of Sony with (Konica) Minolta's former scanner business. There is none - Sony has nothing at all to do with it. We should try to correct this (at the source) before this false information starts to spread and confuses people. Mind, that there were actually some genuinely Konica scanners, which have been also available under the Sony label, long before the Konica Minolta merger:Konica RX-1 / Sony UY-S77Konica RX-2 / Sony UY-S90Konica RX-3 / Sony UY-S100None of these scanners is supported by the.INF file. The list of scanners in your file is larger than in Vitor's original file, but it is still not complete.
Some years ago I compiled a list of Minolta scanner variants with full official names and article codes:Minolta QuickScan 35 / QuickScan 35 Plus QS-2800 / QS-35 (2880-118/2880-318)? Matthias,I was told by Silverfast support that the film scanner division was obtained by Sony in the Konica Minolta deal, but as of that time Sony had chosen not to do anything with it. They said LaserSoft had been trying to get the necessary technical information from Sony so that they could implement iSRD using the KM IR channel and also provide SF for those scanners with new operating systems without reverse engineering. Probably doesn't have anything to do with this file. Or?Hawk,Thank you very much for supplying this information! Great work and contributions everyone!KellyHawk.
